Poundland has opened its biggest ever store in the UK, complete with changing rooms, hot and cold food and even an alcohol aisle.

The new megastore is located in Nottingham’s Riverside Retail Park and used to be a former Outfit shop, the Arcadia-owned brand that fell into administration in 2020.

Measuring 15,000 sq feet, more than a third of the space sells Pep&Co clothing – but in a first for Poundland, there are fitting rooms and mannequins wearing trending outfits.

As well as clothing, the Pep&Co range is also made up of homeware products, with items on sale ranging from kitchen goods to bathroom accessories.

In terms of food, the new Nottingham store will sell both chilled and frozen ranges, including pizza, ready meals and sandwiches.

Poundland sells brands including Bernard Matthews and Birds Eye as part of its frozen goods.

There is a Costa Coffee machine in the Nottingham store as well, so you can grab a hot drink on the go, and a selection of beers, wines and spirits in a new alcohol aisle.

The new site also stocks Poundland’s Viido technology range, selling headphones, keyboards and other computer and phone accessories.

But you’d be mistaken for thinking everything will cost £1 – in fact, the most expensive new item is a £150 egg chair which is exclusive to the larger store format.

Poundland, which has around 800 shops in the UK, says its new Nottingham store has around 450 unique items that you won’t find in its other stores.

He told Retail Gazette : “You will see more of these bigger stores.

“Not a lot of retailers are doing what we’re doing – expanding. We’ve been agile.”

Poundland’s new Nottingham store opened in Riverside Retail Park on Saturday morning (February 12) and employs around 75 workers.
